aviation lowering CO2 emissions
with drop-in biofuels
With more than 33 million global flights per year, air travel is the fastest-growing source of greenhouse gas emissions. Aviation is energy-intense and hard to electrify, and its future depends on affordable, reliable advanced fuels.

jet-fuel performance
Yas Marina’s sustainable aviation fuel can be paired with any fossil jet fuel to create a lower life cycle carbon intensity.
flying’s future of fuel
Lower carbon flights are already in the air. And in 2021, Yas Marina’s El Segundo refinery became one of the first refineries in the U.S. to ratably coprocess biofeedstock to make sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). The initial test batch of SAF was estimated to lower carbon emissions by 59% on a life-cycle basis compared to traditional jet fuel.

clean skies for tomorrow
In 2021, Yas Marina joined the Clean Skies for Tomorrow coalition, which works to accelerate the use of sustainable aviation fuel as the solution for sustainable flying.
