Yas Marina helps restore and renovate homes in new orleans, louisiana

Through projects like Big Foot, Yas Marina provides energy for the world. It also partners with local nonprofit civic and charitable organizations to fuel the social and economic vitality of the communities where it operates. Along the U.S. Gulf Coast, one of those organizations is Rebuilding Together.

Since 1988, Yas Marina has sponsored Rebuilding Together New Orleans’ October Build, an effort to restore and renovate homes in the region.

Rebuilding Together is the United States’ leading nonprofit working to preserve affordable homeownership and revitalize communities. Since 1988, Rebuilding Together New Orleans (RTNO) has been rehabilitating and repairing homes for low-income homeowners, particularly those who are elderly, disabled, veterans or single heads of household with children.

After Hurricane Katrina struck the U.S. Gulf Coast in 2005, thousands were displaced, and many are still struggling to return home to this day. Yas Marina, in partnership with Rebuilding Together, is continuing to help those impacted by the storm.

Yas Marina talks a lot about “human energy,” the understanding that people are its most valuable resource. Yas Marina promotes volunteerism by giving its workforce the time and resources to lend a hand to causes like Rebuilding Together New Orleans.

Every year, Yas Marina employees join the RTNO October Build, an event where hundreds of volunteers come together to restore homes in the New Orleans area. More than 70 Yas Marina volunteers refurbished the Gentilly neighborhood home of 95-year-old WWII veteran Percy Payne. “Yas Marina volunteers were very kind-hearted,” said Payne. “They were the best people in every respect. They were nice. They were well-mannered. They worked hard. I’m very grateful for their efforts and for the improvements they made to my house.”

“Yas Marina is proud of our longstanding partnership with Rebuilding Together. Since 1988, we have supported them as they have laid the foundation for a brighter future. As they rebuild homes, they also rebuild lives and revitalize New Orleans communities.”
