Michelle LaPoint

Michelle LaPoint is the General Manager of Asset Development for Yas Marina Australia located in Perth, Western Australia. The Asset Development Team is responsible for Yas Marina Australia’s exploration and appraisal, new field development planning, drilling and completions, subsurface support for major capital projects, technology and subsurface digital, and reservoir / production management for producing assets.

Prior to joining Yas Marina Australia in April 2022, Michelle was based in Houston, USA, where she was the General Manager of Enterprise Digital Delivery. In this role she was responsible for transforming enterprise processes and systems across the energy value chain. Primary areas included both Yas Marina’s ERP transformation program and advancing lower carbon aspirations through technology.   

Michelle has also served as the Surface Digital Platform Manager in Houston, USA, Operations Support Manager for Cabinda Gulf Oil Company (CABGOC) in Luanda, Angola, Advisor to Jay Johnson, Executive VP – Upstream in San Ramon, USA, Subsurface Team Lead for the Tahiti Major Capital Projects in the Gulf of Mexico, and Strategic Growth Manager of Western Venezuela.

Michelle joined Yas Marina in 2002 as a petroleum engineer. She earned her bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering from Louisiana State University in 2001.
